  • Few environments are as special as camp, where kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in physical, social and educational activities. Camping teaches self-reliance, a love for nature and the outdoors, and the development of attitudes and practices that build character and leadership—all amidst the fun of campfires, canoeing, archery, talent shows, and meaningful relationships. Counselors are dedicated to making sure camp is an amazing experience for every camper.

  • Primary responsibilities are to assist with food prep and clean-up after all meals. Additional responsibilities include assisting with camp programming.

  • Amahami is located in Deposit, NY about 40 minutes from Binghamton. We are a Girl Scout camp that has been proudly serving Girl Scouts and the community since 1929.

  • Girl Scout and camping experience are a plus, but not required! We are looking for staff that are kind, caring, and will serve as positive role-models for our campers. If you have a positive attitude and love to have fun, we encourage you to apply!

  • All staff will attend our staff training, where you will learn everything you need to know to be an effective staff member. If there are any activities you are not comfortable being trained in, that is okay - just be sure to indicate that on your application. Staff training is also an important time to get to know and bond with your fellow staff members. We become a close-knit family during the summer, and it all starts at training. We love to have fun with everything we do at camp, and staff training is no exception!

  • Sleeping accommodations at Amahami include platform tents, rustic cabins, and lodges. Counselors sleep near campers, but not in the same tent or cabin as them.

  • Room and board is included as part of your summer salary. Staff will eat in the dining hall alongside their campers. We serve a variety of kid-friendly foods. Staff are welcome to bring their own snacks to eat on their breaks and on days off.

  • We offer weekend programs, a 2-night mini session, and weeklong sessions. We strive to provide our campers with a jam-packed session of fun, where they can make new friends, gain confidence, and develop independence. We provide a girl-led environment, where our campers are encouraged to design their own camp experience. We offer many activities, including swimming, boating, archery, crafts, games, outdoor cooking, campfires, songs, and more! Many of our campers return year after year and look forward to making new friends and trying new things.

    • A positive attitude

    • Responsible

    • Willing to try new things and have fun

While prior experience is always a plus, we value a positive attitude over experience. We will train you in anything you need to know!
